We used more than 20 detangling sprays in our salon before we made our own.
Some had great slip but felt heavy. Some smelled lovely but did little for the brush. Some worked well in one area and fell short in another.
So we built our own formula and judged every version at the grooming table: how the brush moved through the coat, how the hair felt once dry, whether residue built up and how much we needed. It took two years and dozens of rounds, and every dog in our salon was brushed with it along the way.
Out of every detangling spray we've used in our salon, this is the one we trust most.

Fleece loose waves
Fleece coats tangle wherever there is friction, especially behind the ears, in the armpits and under a harness. Mist those spots first, then brush a small section at a time.
Curly tight, springy curls
Curls hold on to loose hair, so knots tend to form close to the skin. Mist, give it 30 seconds, then brush and follow with a comb right down to the skin.
Oodle not sure which
Oodle coats are fleece or curly, so either way this spray is made for your dog. Loose waves are usually fleece; tight, springy curls are usually curly.
Silky
This spray is made for fleece and curly coats. The Dogify grooming kit for silky coats is coming soon.
Straight

What's inside
Every ingredient had to earn its place. We balanced how they work together over two years of formula rounds on the dogs in our salon.
The ingredients that loosen knots
Amodimethicone
A conditioning silicone that coats each hair in a fine, smooth layer, so hairs slide past each other instead of catching. It's drawn most to rough, weathered hair.
Two conditioning agents
Behentrimonium methosulfate and dipalmitoylethyl dimonium chloride. Both carry a positive charge, so they cling to the coat, smooth each hair and calm static, which helps the brush glide.
We used the spray on every dog in our salon while we refined it, including dogs with sensitive skin.
The ingredients that care for the coat
Hyaluronic acid
Chosen to help the coat hold moisture and feel softer.
Panthenol
Provitamin B5, to condition the coat and keep it manageable between grooms.
Aloe vera
Part of the conditioning blend for a soft finish.
Light fragrance
A gentle scent, not a heavy perfume.

How to use it

Mist the knot
Spray directly onto knots and tangles, one area at a time. Use a little; more isn't always better.

Wait 30 seconds
Give it a moment to work into the knot before you brush.

Brush gently
Brush in the direction of coat growth, a small section at a time.

Follow with a comb
When the comb glides through to the skin, that section is done.
Avoid the face, eyes and irritated skin. For external use on pets only.
What a detangler can and can't do
A spray makes brushing easier. It can't make tight matting safe to brush out.

- Tight or dense mats close to the skin; a professional groomer can take care of these safely

Questions, answered
Does detangling spray actually work?
Yes, for the right job. It adds slip, so hairs slide past each other instead of catching, and the brush moves through with less pulling. It won't dissolve tight mats or pelting.
Is it suitable for Cavoodles and other Oodles?
Yes. Oodle coats are fleece or curly, which is exactly what this spray was made for. That covers Cavoodles, Groodles, Labradoodles and Spoodles, and Poodles too.
Can it remove mats?
It helps loosen everyday tangles and small knots. Tight or dense mats sitting close to the skin are best left to a professional groomer. Scissors are never a safe way to remove mats.
What brush and comb should I use with it?
A slicker brush first, then a metal comb. The comb tells you whether you've brushed all the way to the skin. The Dogify Kit includes both, chosen for fleece and curly coats.
Is it suitable for dogs with sensitive skin?
We used it on every dog in our salon while we refined it, including dogs with sensitive skin. Every dog is different, though, so try it on a small patch of coat first. If you notice any redness or irritation, stop using it and check in with your vet.
Can I use it on my dog's face?
Please keep it away from the face, eyes and any irritated skin. It's for external use on pets only.
How is it different from other detangling sprays?
The detangling comes from amodimethicone working with two conditioning agents, balanced over two years and dozens of rounds on the dogs we groom until we were happy with the slip and the light finish. We used more than 20 sprays in our salon before making this one, and it's made for fleece and curly coats rather than trying to suit every coat at once.
Does it contain silicone?
Yes. Amodimethicone is a conditioning silicone, and it's one of the ingredients that gives the spray its slip.
