Simply Seaweed is a dental supplement for dogs and cats. It is 100% certified organic Ascophyllum nodosum seaweed, harvested in Canada and Ireland and packed in Australia, with no additives, preservatives or colourings. You sprinkle it on food. The maker says it helps with plaque, tartar and bad breath, and that results can take up to two months to show.
How to use
Sprinkle on top of your dog's meal or mix it through, once a day. If you cook or heat the food, add the seaweed afterwards. The daily dose can be split across meals.
Daily amount by weight
- Cats and dogs up to 10 kg: 1 to 2 pinches (1/16 to 1/8 teaspoon)
- Dogs 10 to 25 kg: 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon
- Dogs 25 to 50 kg: 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon
- Dogs over 50 kg: 1/2 to 1 teaspoon
1 teaspoon is about 3 g. For dogs with sensitive tummies or fussy eaters, start with a very small amount and build up to the full dose.
Warnings
Check with your vet before using if your dog has a thyroid condition. Seaweed is naturally rich in iodine, which affects thyroid function.
- Do not give to pets allergic or intolerant to seaweed, kelp, algae, fish, shellfish or seafood.
- Not recommended for pregnant or nursing animals.
- Not recommended for puppies or kittens under 6 months.
- Not recommended alongside other seaweed or kelp supplements, to avoid feeding too much of some minerals.
- For animal use only.
